150 Years of Hardy Plants
Originally published in 2000 for the University's 150th year, 150 Years of Hardy Plants is an illustrated catalog of all U of M releases of horticultural plants from apples and grapes to azaleas and chrysanthemums, and the research that went into their development up until 2000. Download a PDF version, or for an updated version, including plant releases after 2000, check the latest addition of Minnesota Hardy.
Today, CFANS horticultural scientists and breeders are focused on breeding new varieties of plants and developing new techniques that will help expand the growing season in Minnesota or, in some cases, allow Minnesotans to grow plant varieties they were not able to grow in the past. Visit the Horticulture page for updated information on U of M horticultural research and variety releases.
