Agronomic Crops

An agronomic crop is typically one that is grown for feed or as a cash crop by farmers. Seed for these crops is rarely available in the small lots that would be used by a homeowner in a garden or for a landscape. Releases in some crops are provided specifically for further breeding by commercial seed producers attempting to incorporate new or improved characteristics into their own varieties.

Availability Notes: Not every variety released over the years by the University of Minnesota is still available. When known, the "availability" column in these lists indicates whether, to the best of our knowledge, each variety is current (meaning you can expect to find it through major seed sources), an heirloom variety (you will likely need to seek through specialized sources), or a variety that is believed to no longer be available.
