The Plant Growth Facilities (PGF) include greenhouses, head house support area, classrooms, and environmental growth chambers. Though the PGF is available to the entire University of Minnesota community, it is primarily used by the College of Food Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences and the College of Biological Sciences. The Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES serves as the administrative support unit). The operating policies are guided by an oversight committee.
Teaching and Research Greenhouses
The St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota has approximately two acres of greenhouse space available for faculty to use to support plant growth research and teaching. A staff of five are the primary contacts for services. Service charges are assessed to all greenhouse users.
Plant Growth Chambers
One hundred and forty-five environmental growth chambers are owned and maintained by the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station, along with the College of Biological Sciences and the Cargill Center. These chambers are located in nine different buildings on the St. Paul Campus. Department owned chambers are assigned to department projects. If chambers are available they may be assigned to other college units. Fees are charged for use of growth chambers.
